The Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders Association (SLFFA) held its 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 26th August at the Cinnamon Grand, Oak Room, marking more than four decades of service to the nation’s logistics and freight forwarding industry.
The event was graced by Hon. Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Deputy Minister for Ports and Shipping, as Chief Guest, and Admiral (Rtd) Sirimevan Ranasinghe, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), as Guest of Honor. Also present were SLFFA Vice Chairman Andre Fernando and Treasurer Shavindra Dias, alongside members of the Association and distinguished industry leaders.
In his address, the SLFFA Chairman Channa Gunawardena emphasized two urgent priorities for Sri Lanka’s logistics future. The first was the need to expedite infrastructure development at the Colombo Port, including the Multi-Country Consolidation (MCC) facility, and to accelerate the airport expansion project. Both are critical to meeting the growing demand for air freight, enhancing Sea & Air and transshipment capabilities, and positioning Colombo as a competitive logistics hub. The second priority was the acceleration of digitalization initiatives, including community systems and the National Single Window (NSW). These, he stressed, are essential to streamline customs processes, reduce delays, and enable faster, more efficient cargo clearance.
The AGM reaffirmed SLFFA’s role as a strong industry advocate and a driving force in positioning Sri Lanka as a smart, agile, and connected logistics hub, capable of competing with regional trade hubs.
